Accessibility

Our target

We build to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We are not going to claim we have achieved full conformance, because we have not had an independent audit. What follows is an honest account of what has actually been implemented.

What is in place

• Keyboard access. Every interactive element — menus, filters, the gallery, drawers, dialogs — is reachable and operable by keyboard. Drawers and dialogs trap focus while open and return it when closed.
• Visible focus. A high-contrast focus ring is always shown, and shifts to gold on dark surfaces so it stays visible. Focus styles are never removed.
• A skip link is the first thing you reach on every page.
• Semantic HTML. Real headings in order, real lists, real buttons and links, real form labels. ARIA is used only where HTML alone cannot express the pattern.
• Alt text on every meaningful image; decorative images are marked as such so screen readers skip them rather than reading a filename.
• Form errors are announced, linked to their field with aria-describedby, and described in words rather than colour alone.
• Live regions announce cart changes, filter results and order lookups.
• Contrast. Text is set to meet WCAG AA contrast on its background, and every public page is checked with the axe-core automated scanner. Automated checks catch a lot but not everything.
• Reduced motion. If your system asks for reduced motion, animations and smooth scrolling are switched off, not merely shortened.
• Zoom. Pinch-zoom is never blocked, and layouts reflow to 320px without horizontal scrolling.
• Touch targets. Buttons, form fields and the header, menu and cart controls are at least 44×44 CSS pixels. Text links in lists and the footer are smaller but spaced to meet the WCAG 2.2 minimum.
• Unavailable options are shown, not hidden — a struck-through size tells you it is unavailable instead of silently disappearing.

Known gaps

• No independent third-party audit has been carried out yet. Until one has, treat this page as a statement of intent and effort, not a conformance claim.
• Checkout is hosted by Shopify and is outside our control. Shopify publishes its own accessibility information.
• Product imagery is currently placeholder artwork; final photography must ship with descriptive alt text, and that work is outstanding.

Tell us when we get it wrong

If something here is hard or impossible to use, we want to know — a specific report is far more useful than a general complaint, and we will take it seriously.

Email support@raregoblin.com with what you were trying to do, what happened, and the browser and assistive technology you were using. We aim to reply within two business days, and we will tell you plainly whether and when we can fix it.

If you cannot complete an order because of an accessibility barrier, contact us and we will take the order manually. You should not lose out because our site failed you.
